Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles recalled with a ‘do not drive’ alert
By
(Gray News) – A “do not drive” warning has been issued for thousands of Chryslers, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles that still have unrepaired Takata air bags.
The defective air bags have been at the center of a massive recall that has affected tens of millions of vehicles in the U.S., according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
About 225,000 vehicles are impacted by the latest “do not drive” warning, including the following list of models:
- 2003–2010 Dodge Ram
- 2004–2009 Dodge Durango
- 2005–2011 Dodge Dakota
- 2005–2008 Dodge Magnum
- 2006–2015 Dodge Charger
- 2007–2009 Chrysler Aspen
- 2008–2014 Dodge Challenger
- 2005–2015 Chrysler 300
- 2007–2016 Jeep Wrangler
- 2006–2009 Mitsubishi Raider
NHTSA advises anyone with an impacted vehicle not to drive it until the air bag has been replaced. The repair can be done for free at a manufacturer’s dealership.
Vehicle owners can check NHTSA’s website to see if their vehicle is included in the Takata air bag recall.
NHTSA reported 28 people in the U.S. have been killed and at least 400 have been injured by defective Takata air bags that exploded.
