Warm, Humid & Breezy, Few Late Week Storm Chances
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
It has been a warm and humid day across West Tennessee due to the breezy southerly winds that have been sticking around most of the day. Highs reached up to around 60° under a cloudy sky and the dew point climbed quickly this afternoon. Temperatures are not going to drop at all tonight due to the high humidity and cloud cover. There could be a few showers and even a weak storm on Wednesday but chances are only around 20%. That chance goes up to around 30% on Thursday and there could even be a storm or two near the Kentucky border in the late evening or early nighttime hours. If we did get a stronger storm late Thursday, gusty winds will be the main threat. Temperatures will cool down a bit on Friday but even cooler weather is expected to move in late into the weekend and we could fall below freezing again early next week. Catch the full forecast details coming up here.
THIS WEEK:
We sure needed that weekend rain, but some areas saw a little too much close to 3″ this weekend that led to some minor flooding concerns. Isolated showers are in the forecast later this week and maybe a round of strong storms could be coming as well. The forecast is quite inconsistent as of now to the timing and location of the biggest storm threat later this week, but we are going to work on ironing out that forecast before the system gets here. We are also going to be very warm and humid for a few days and a return to winter-like temperatures could be on the way next week.
The winds started out calm Monday night but picked back up quickly on Tuesday in the afternoon. More clouds moved in during the day on Tuesday and the winds shifted to the south increasing the humidity, but the clouds should block us from hitting 70° in the afternoon. Tuesday night will be warm and humid with morning lows only dipping down to the upper 50s to kick off our Wednesday.
The next system will get closer on Wednesday and could spark up a few showers or even a weak storm or two. Severe weather and widespread rain is not in the forecast on Wednesday and most of us will miss out on the rain. Rain chances are only 20-30% but it is going to be breezy and humid all day long. Highs will again make it up to around 70° with mostly cloudy skies. Another warm and humid night is coming Wednesday night into Thursday morning with overnight lows again only dropping to around 60°.
The next front is going to move through late Thursday and could bring a round of rain showers and some strong storms with it. As of now, the main threat for severe weather looks to be just north of us, but if the system shifts even a little bit, it could become a bigger concern for us as it slides by. We will need to monitor the forecast very closely this week and over the next day or two, we should have a much better idea as to who will be in the main threat zone for storms Thursday night. As of now, rain chances are 30-40% in the late evening and early nighttime hours on Thursday into Friday morning. Highs on Thursday are going to be close to record highs in the mid to upper 70s. It will again be another humid and windy day with partly to mostly cloudy skies.
As the front moves through Thursday night, lows will start to drop and expect to kick off our Friday around 50°. Highs on Friday will depend on when the cooler air behind the front moves in, but we are expecting highs to reach the mid 60s still on Friday before seeing temperatures continuing to fall off into the weekend. The winds will come out of the northwest most of the day on Friday and some showers and storms will be possible in the morning hours before clearing out later in the day. Friday night lows will be a little cooler falling down to the low 40s to kick off the weekend.
