Electrical fire destroys Madison County home; family of four escapes

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — An electrical fire broke out early Tuesday morning resulting in a devastating loss.

What could have ended in tragedy instead became a story of survival after an early morning fire destroyed a family’s home.

At approximately 5:30 a.m., the Madison County Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a house fire.

Located in the 2700 block of Ashport Road, crews arrived on scene to find the residence almost fully engulfed in flames.

This prompted a large emergency response, as neighbors tell us at least seven fire trucks were on scene.

A family of four were inside the residence when the fire erupted. One resident tells us she woke up this morning as normal, but quickly jumped into action to try to combat the flames.

According to the fire department, the flame is suspected to have originated in the master bedroom. The cause of the fire has been determined to be electrical in nature.

Traffic was halted for several hours as crews worked diligently at the scene. The fire department tells us everything was brought under control within 30 minutes.

Thankfully, all residents were able to exit the home safe and sound, but the same could not be said for their belongings.

Resident’s say majority, if not all, of their possessions from the last 30 years have been lost.

The American Red Cross has been notified and is working to assist the displaced family. For additional information, please contact the Madison County Fire Department.
