Isolated Clusters of Strong Storms Possible
Weather Update: Monday, March 9 —
Good Morning West Tennessee. It was a very foggy start to the morning for the eastern 2/3 of the region. Fog should lift fairly steadily through late morning, clouds however are spreading back into the region via overrunning along a quasi-stationary boundary draped from Red River Valley over to Central Mississippi. this boundary is forecast to become a warm front lifting north progressively this afternoon.

Today/Afternoon:
Meanwhile, aloft there is a subtle perturbation translating through Oklahoma into West Arkansas. The associated trough and speed max will likely lend aid to developing clusters of strong to severe storms along the frontal zone by this afternoon before spreading east towards the TN/MS border through this afternoon. The combination of shear and modest instability and steep lapse rates will support an ongoing area of cluster of storms. SPC has the southern half of West Tennessee in a Marginal ( 1/5) threat of large, to potentially very large hail. the peak of the threat is towards the MS Delta region to the Memphis Metro, but a few stray elevated supercells will be possible to the I-40 corridor.
