Samaritan’s Purse seeks volunteers after winter storm damages Corinth and McNairy County communities
MCNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Samaritan’s Purse has been working in Corinth and McNairy County for more than a month following a winter storm that left families without water or electricity and caused damage to roofs, driveways, and yards.
The severe ice storm affected communities across Mississippi and Tennessee. Fallen trees and heavy limbs added to the damage in both areas. Samaritan’s Purse said it responded immediately after the disaster to help families begin repairing their homes.
The organization said it has completed more than 700 work orders but that additional assistance is still needed in the area.
How to volunteer
Samaritan’s Purse is asking for volunteers to join its relief efforts. The organization said no prior experience is required and that it provides tools and training on-site.
Daily volunteer orientations are held at two locations:
- Oakland Baptist Church in Corinth, Miss. — 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- Love and Truth Church in McNairy, Tenn. — 7:30 a.m.
Volunteers receive training at orientation, are assigned to a team, and are then sent out to serve families in the community.
Those interested can attend an orientation at either church or sign up at spvolunteer.org.
Interview opportunities with Samaritan’s Purse staff are available by calling (828) 616-9794.
