DEVELOPING STORY: Large law enforcement presence reported in McKenzie

McKENZIE, Tenn.–A developing story following reports of a large law enforcement presence in a local town prompts calls from our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipters.

We started receiving calls around 7, Tuesday evening from tipters regarding a heightened law enforcement presence in a neighborhood along Tennessee Street in McKenzie.

Our crew arrived on scene around 8:30 p.m. and found law enforcement outside of a house there.
Neighbors who live nearby tell us the incident started around 5, Tuesday afternoon.

On the scene, our crew observed several law enforcement agencies including McKenzie Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, and Madison County Sheriff’s Office surrounding a home in the 100 block of Tennessee Street and talking to someone inside using a bullhorn.

After several hours on the scene, officers were seen taking a man into custody in handcuffs just after 9:15 p.m.
We have reached out to McKenzie Police and are awaiting more details.
