Ammunition found at Camden Junior High School prompts investigation

No threat found after student turns in ammunition to school officials

BENTON COUNTY — A .22 caliber cartridge was turned in to Camden Junior High School administration Thursday, prompting an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security, the School Resource Officer and local law enforcement.

Officials say CJHS administration followed safety protocols after learning of the item and notified authorities, who responded to the school.

Authorities conducted an investigation and determined no student, teacher or staff member was in immediate threat as a result of the incident.

The Benton County School System said the individual who turned in the item exercised good judgment. The district asked parents to speak with their children and reinforce the importance of reporting anything suspicious to a trusted adult or school official.

Questions or concerns can be directed to the Benton County School System’s Central Office.
