Dear Greenpower Family,
Yesterday a bus traveling to the Greenpower USA event in Jackson, TN was involved in a serious accident that claimed the lives of two students and seriously injured several others.

We are devastated to learn of this tragedy and hold the families in our heavy hearts tonight. No parent should have to receive this news. As we grieve these precious lives, we remain in steadfast hope for the full recovery of the injured students.

Greenpower is a truly special community of teachers, coaches, parents, and volunteers, with students at the center of everything we do. Our staff and volunteers move forward into the race today holding to this principle – students first. We will continue to provide the best possible experience for those in attendance as we hold space and honor the memory of those who would have been here with us. We will have a pit station set up for the Kenwood Middle School team for those who would like to offer their respects.

In the midst of such tragedy, we are thankful for Jackson-Madison County School System’s support for the students on site, through the provision of grief counselors and private locations for those who need to process this difficult situation.

Above all, we take this moment to treat one another with kindness and remember that while we may compete on the track, we are one Greenpower family.
