Local Vietnam Veterans honored

JACKSON, Tenn.— Local organizations honor Vietnam Veterans with a tribute event.

The Jackson-Madison DAR and SAR Chapters hosted an event to celebrate National Vietnam Veterans Day.

The event took place at the VFW Post 6496 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There were several honorary guests as well as others who wanted to show their support to local veterans.

Madison County Mayor A.J. Massey was in attendance and also a speaker, explaining the importance of supporting veterans who give so much for so many others.

A ceremony was included where each veteran was honored with a lapel pin and certificate.

“We love this event. We have a good turnout every year. They know that we’re here for them, and they know that we honor them. We give them a certificate and have a pinning ceremony. And we are always excited to extend our love for them,” said Jeanita Hicks, Regent of the Jackson-Madison DAR.

National Vietnam Veterans Day is observed annually on March 29 to honor and remember the U.S. soldiers who served during the Vietnam War.
