Adult seniors complete tech training program at South Jackson Community Center

JACKSON, Tenn. — Adult learners in Jackson are celebrating a big milestone in the digital age.

At the South Jackson Community Center on Bolivar Highway, seniors who completed the Literacy Tech Program received their certificates Monday afternoon, they were presented by Miss Tennessee Volunteer.

Director “Pee wee” Williamson has now graduated nine classes with each student learning how to operate a free laptop they get to take home.

“Coming and having this opportunity to learn all of these amazing things; they can just keep moving forward. Having the opportunity to research things they come across on social media to understand, and need to know whether it’s false or true, to share it with their families is the biggest thing,” said Lexi Blackmon, Miss Midtown.

The program is designed to help seniors stay connected, manage everyday tasks online, and build confidence using technology.
