Educator of the Week: Marcia Holt
TREZEVANT, Tenn. — It’s time now to recognize our Educator of the Week, brought to you by the Tennessee Education Lottery.

Marcia Holt is a 5th grade math teacher at West Carroll Elementary School.
She shares how many educators growing up helped inspired her to pursue education.
“I had many great teachers growing up. I very fondly remember my kindergarten teacher. If it’s ok I’ll say her name, Ms. Bunch was an absolute wonderful teacher and, of course, that was my start in school. And she kinda made me love being in school. It started my whole school career,” said Holt.
Holt says building relationships with the students is what drives her to continue to grow as an educator.

She expands on her love for kids.
“Of course the children. I love working with children. I’ve done that the whole time I have been working and I enjoy the children, I enjoy seeing them learn, and I love to see the light bulb come on when they’re getting what you’re teaching them. And I like the interaction with the children,” said Holt.
Holt says she has been loving her new position in the classroom. She ends by sharing how she got here and how she is grateful for all the love.
“I would say the reason why I took the position [is] because I thought it would give me a change to be in a class, because I have been teaching but I taught many years ago in the school system but I wasn’t in a classroom. Never actually been in a classroom. So, I thought this would give me an opportunity to see what it was like to be in the classroom and to see if I wanted to stay in the classroom,” said Holt.
Holt is now eligible for the Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Month award. To vote for her or any other nominees, go to the Tennessee Education Lottery website.
