Weekend Preview: Events, activities happening Easter weekend
Easter weekend is packed with events across West Tennessee, including fun runs, festivals, egg hunts and church services.
Several egg hunts are set for Saturday.
- Paris Eiffel Tower Park starts at 10 a.m. with timed age divisions and a visit with the Easter Bunny.
- Jackson’s Urban Defense Gun Club plans to host an egg hunt at Conger Park from noon to 2 p.m.
- The McGowan Foundation is hosting another free Easter event in Whiteville from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Whiteville City Park.

Emily Berry from the recreation program in Paris said she enjoys seeing children at the event.
“Most definitely, I think that it’s just something we enjoy, see the kids get their eggs, visit the Easter Bunny, and just their faces light,” Berry said. “So definitely going to be something we do in perpetuity, if we can.”
Other weekend events
- Saturday morning in Jackson, Rotary’s Race for the Rest of Us takes over at the Amp from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- In Savannah, the Cherry Mansion lawn hosts storytelling with Generals Grant and Beauregard as part of a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Both events have tickets that are sold in advance. Berry said community events help people connect.
“You’re meeting new people but experiencing your neighbors, you know after COVID everybody became sort of closed in so things like this, I’m so glad the community is getting back to it, and just interacting,” Berry said. “People interacting with people, smiling, seeing their faces, hearing real voices in person so it’s good stuff.”
On Easter Sunday, churches across West Tennessee are holding services throughout the morning, including options at 8 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
