First Presbyterian Church of Jackson holds ‘Way of the Cross’ service downtown

JACKSON, Tenn. — One local church is taking to the streets for their Good Friday service.

First Presbyterian Church of Jackson hosted their annual Way of the Cross service Friday afternoon, walking to nonprofits in downtown Jackson to pray for those in need.

Participants met at the West Tennessee Farmers Market before beginning the walk. The service focused on the story of Christ’s death and resurrection.

“We go to places like Area Relief Ministries and ComeUnity Cafe to West Tennessee Legal Services and Recovery Court and we pray over these non profits and we sing hymns and read scripture together. To tell the story of Jesus, to remember the story of Jesus..how he suffered and died for us and then we connect that suffering to the suffering we see today,” said Associate Pastor Courtney Bowen with First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.

Associate Pastor Bowen said the church will hold two Easter services Sunday: a Sunrise service at 6:15 a.m. and a traditional service at 9:30 a.m. For more information, click here.
