Lakeland Preparatory freshman wins congressional art competition

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Congressman David Kustoff hosted the 2026 Congressional Art Competition reception at the West Tennessee Art Center in Humboldt.

The yearly competition is open to all high school students in the eighth congressional district. At the reception, Kustoff announced the winner: Tammy Le, a freshman at Lakeland Preparatory School.

Le said she was surprised to win.

“I was very surprised, I mean, I was very close to not submitting it. I mean, I didn’t think I had any chance and my art teacher believed in me, so I just decided just put it in,” Le said.

The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
