Henderson County roads to see record paving work starting this summer
HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — If you feel like your daily commute in Henderson County has been a bit bumpy lately, you aren’t alone.
Road conditions are the number one complaint for local leaders, but relief is finally on the horizon.
“Mandates and different things that all help you ask, because I know the prices are rising, and it’s good, thank you for your questions. It’s really, really good to me,” said Senator Ed Jackson.
Road conditions are one of the main concerns the community has here in Henderson County.
“One of the biggest concerns and issues I get as a State Rep. is roads. When are you paving my road,” said State Representative Brock Martin.
Actually, TDOT is paving roads, but they have to have a plan in place before they can do that.
“Currently, TDOT is creating a three, five, and 10 year plan, and that’s updated every quarter with new projects that are happening across our region,” said Martin.
He says one of the key takeaways from TDOT is that 2026 you will see a record number of paved roads in Tennessee, with work beginning this summer.
“What we’ll see this summer is gonna be kind of the heart of Lexington, right through the middle of town, will be repaved, and then a lot of conversations are gonna be built around the bottleneck that’s kind of occurred right at broad street there by the high school. We’ve heard a lot of complaints from that, and so this conversation will be geared towards it this summer, to making sure that we are dressing that, what the community wants, but then working with TDOT to make sure that those roads are better taken care of,” said Martin.
He continues to say, you will see more TDOT workers, and he also mentioned they will continue to push more money into the districts to make sure that more roads are going to get paid.
As that work begins in the heart of Lexington this summer, they are asking everyone to slow down in work zones and keep an eye out for TDOT crews.
