Rally held in Jackson reminding residents to get out and vote

JACKSON, Tenn.—A local park in Jackson had a voting rally Saturday.

The event took place at Shirlene Mercer Park. They had free food, jumping houses for the kids, and they encouraged residents to get out and vote.

“Have something for the public just to increase voter turnout. We want you to know how important it is that you vote in your local elections, that this is something that directly affects you as a citizen, the rules and the policies and the different things that are happening in your community that will affect you directly,” said Tina Mercer, County Commissioners, District 1, Position 1.

Mercer also says this event was important to her because she got to do it at her mother’s park.
