Elected officials meet with residents in Medina

MEDINA, Tenn. — State Rep. Curtis Halford, State Senator John Stevens and Congressman David Kustoff met Friday with members of the community in Medina to give an update on what they’re doing for taxpayers in West Tennessee.

“Tennessee continues to be a low-tax state. We have money in the bank. We have a lot of money in the bank,” Halford, R-Dyer, said.

Sen. Stevens expressed the need to keep West Tennesseans in leadership positions in the state Legislature.

“We need help, and I hope to send Curtis back to keep that position so we can keep a voice for West Tennessee in the House and Senate,” Stevens, R-Huntingdon, said.

And Congressman David Kustoff made a prediction about one of the most public issues in Washington today.

“Kavanaugh will be confirmed in the Judiciary Committee, and will ultimately be confirmed by the full Senate,” Kustoff said.

Residents asked a variety of questions, ranging anywhere from taxes to employment and health care.

“Those issues will come up in next year’s Congress because there just isn’t that much time left in this one,” Kustoff said.

Halford and Kustoff are up for re-election this November.
