Sun/Cloud Mix, Isolated Storms Possible

Weather Update: Monday, April 13 —

Good Morning West Tennessee. we have a wet start to the morning for some. An area of light to moderate showers developed along the Mississippi River over Lauderdale County, it has been expanding in areal coverage east as the wave pushing NNE into NW Tennessee. I’ve even detected a couple embedded areas of thunder/lightning. It will continue traveling towards Western Kentucky through late morning. Moisture will continue increasing over the region as the day progresses giving way to a mix of sun and clouds.  Instability is expected to grow by lunch time, perhaps enough to support a couple updrafts that potentially grow into maturing isolated, perhaps clusters of storms today. Storms will likely be pulse in nature, relying on sunshine and weak SW to NE shear. The key term today is isolated, not everyone will get wet today. However if you’re one of the lucky ones that end up under a storm today, they’ll produce locally heavy downpour picking up .1-.2″ in short order this afternoon.
