RIFA honors volunteers at annual appreciation event

JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – RIFA held its annual volunteer appreciation event at Baker Bros Barbeque downtown Tuesday.

The celebration was presented by Cadence Bank and Love and Truth Church. Cadence Bank President Aida Lovelace and Pastor Darian Brown both spoke to the crowd.

RIFA handed out awards in 14 categories to recognize community volunteers.

“For example, we had 64,000 meals served out of the soup kitchen last year. When we say we can’t do what we do without them, that’s not just a tag line, or something to make people feel good about themselves, it is the truth. We simply could not do–RIFA would not be what it is without our volunteers,” said Tracie Bernard, volunteer coordinator with RIFA.

Organizers said the event is a chance to publicly honor the people who give their time to fight hunger in Jackson.
