Late Week Showers & Storms Back, Severe Threat Coming Next Monday!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Tuesday has been just as nice as Monday was for all of West Tennessee. Highs have made it up to around 80° today and expect another similar day on Wednesday. A low pressure system will pass just south of us on Thursday and could bring a few light showers but most of us will not see anything at all until late in the day on Friday. Some storms will mix in on Friday and linger into the start of the weekend. We should dry out during the day on Saturday and Sunday is looking like a mostly dry day. What appears to be our most concerning threat for severe weather is coming next Monday, but still being a week out, lots could change before the system gets here. Catch the latest on it all coming up here.

THIS WEEK:

Another really nice week is coming for all of West Tennessee. Showers and storms will look to return around the end of the work week. Some severe weather concerns could also show up, but it could go either way with the severe storms at this time. If we do not end up getting severe weather, storms are still looking likely later this week and some rain is looking to linger into the upcoming weekend as well. Tonight is going to be a bit cool with overnight lows falling down to around 50° due to the clear skies and calm winds.

Plenty of sunshine will look to stick around in the middle of the week. We are watching a low pressure system in Texas but forecast models suggest it is going to stay just south of us and will not be bringing any rain or even much in the way of clouds our way. Highs on Tuesday reached the low 80s and expect similar numbers on Wednesday. The winds will come out of the southwest in the middle of the week and will not change directions most likely until the weekend. Tuesday night will fall to the low 50s but upper 50s are expected Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

A few more clouds will move in coming up from the south on Thursday as the low pressure system in Texas will slowly crawl the east. The winds will come straight up from the south on Thursday and that will increase the humidity a bit. Highs will reach the low to mid 80s and Thursday night lows will drop into the low to mid 60s. We should stay dry on Thursday but cannot 100% rule out a shower or weak storms Thursday night into Friday morning.

The best shot for rain and storms this week is coming in on Friday. Some of the storms could be strong and some severe weather looks possible at this time. Forecast models have been inconsistent as far as how far to the east the severe weather is going to get later this week. Severe weather looks likely west of us in the middle of the week but like the last couple systems, the threat may weaken as the system gets closer to us. Rain is looking likely though Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. Highs on Friday will reach the low 80s and Friday night lows will fall to the low 60s. The winds will stay out of the south for most of the day on Friday.

THIS WEEKEND:
There is a good chance some of the showers and storms on Friday linger into the day on Saturday. As the day goes on, the showers and storms should clear out and we are expecting to be dry by Saturday evening and stay that way for Sunday. Highs this weekend will still reach around 80° as the cold front coming in is likely to stall out and not push completely through West Tennessee. Morning lows will hang around 60°. The winds will come out of the north to kick off the day on Saturday but turn to the southeast as the weekend goes on. The winds will shift when the stalled out front is again lifted to the north of us. Forecasting rain with a stalled out system is often difficult to determine when the rain is going to move out and who is most likely going to see the most, so stay weather aware later this week as the forecast is a challenging one starting on Friday and lingering into the weekend. A more concerning threat for severe weather appears to coming in on Monday next week. That is something we are going to need to watch very closely as we get more forecast data this week.
