Jackson to host free Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month celebration
JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – The city of Jackson is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage month with a free community event this Friday.
Mayor Scott Conger will host the third annual AAPI heritage month celebration at city hall, including a proclamation presented to Dr. Mike Chua.
The program features musical performances by Jerie Joy Broadway, dance performances by Dr. Niveditha Prasanna and Navya Parashar, and a special art gallery showcasing works by local AAPI artists.
“We will pack as many people into our main foyer as possible. For everyone who wants to come out and celebrate, or if you are unavailable at that time, feel free to stop by and have a look in the gallery at any time during the month of May. This is the people’s building, we want to invite as many people in as possible,” Conger said.
The event is Friday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at city hall on East Main Street. It is free and open to the public and family-friendly.
