Lincoln Elementary students get hands-on voting experience
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local students got a chance this week to experience voting for themselves.

Lincoln Elementary School had a speaker talk with students Tuesday about the importance of voting and how to vote.
Students heard from a speaker about having a voice through elections. Students then hit the polls to vote for themselves.
Math teacher Veronica Sesson tells WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News why events like this are important.
“This is a lifelong learning experience for our scholars,” Sesson said. “So they can take this knowledge, and when they’re older they’ve already been exposed to it and they will be willing to do this when they get older.”
This was the first time students were able to use real voting machines, donated by the Shelby County Voting Commission.
