City of Bolivar asks residents to report potholes online
BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A West Tennessee city is looking to make your drive a little smoother.
“I think potholes have been around since we started building roads,” Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic said.
But the city of Bolivar has a unique way of repairing those potholes.
“On our website, not only can you report potholes, just any concern you have with the city,” Mayor McTizic said.
Through the city’s website or their app, you can report any pothole you see. All you have to do is put in your name, email, where the pothole is and include a picture.
“We can’t always find them. We don’t always go to every street. We don’t know unless someone tells us,” Mayor McTizic said.
Last week, the Street and Sanitation Department was out fixing potholes outside of Bolivar Middle School.
But not all the potholes can be fixed by the city.
Officials say if you’re reporting potholes on Market Street, there’s actually nothing they can do about it. It’s a state highway, so the city can’t fix it.
Mayor McTizic says this is just one of many ways they’re trying to connect with the community.
“We have to be transparent and open with each other and just communicate the best we can. With social media, it’s a lot easier,” he said.
On the website, you can also report abandoned vehicles, litter and street lights that have gone out.
