Henry Co. Medical Center asks friends, family to limit visits due to flu

PARIS, Tenn. — Henry County Medical Center is encouraging friends and family of patients to limit their visits to the hospital due to an increased number of flu cases.

The hospital announced the need Friday for friends and family to limit their visitation of patients due to an increased number of cases of flu in the community and within the hospital, according to a post on the HCMC website.

Hospital officials are also asking that family and friends, especially those younger than 14 years old, do not visit the HCMC Women’s Center and Critical Care Units.

Pregnant women are also being encouraged to not come to the emergency room unless in the case of a true emergency, the post says.

“In the past 72 hours, HCMC has seen an influx of patients in the ER testing positive with Flu Type A,” the post says. “It is estimated that about one in five patients are receiving this diagnosis in the ER and there are many flu patients within the hospital.”
