UPDATE: Hardin County EMA, Red Cross open shelter due to flooding
HARDIN COUNTY, Tenn. — Hardin County Mayor Kevin Davis has declared a state of emergency in the county as the Tennessee River continues to rise and is expected to reach 400 feet at Savannah on Tuesday, February 26. That’s according to a release from the Hardin County Emergency Communications District.
As a result, the Hardin County Emergency Management Agency and the American Red Cross have opened an emergency shelter for anyone who needs a place to stay due to flooding.
The shelter is now open at Savannah Church of Christ, located at 1175 Pickwick Street, according to the American Red Cross of Mid-West Tennessee.
Dinner will be available and provided by Mollie Monday’s Restaurant.
Officials are urging motorists to exercise extra caution on the roadways, and to avoid driving through flooded areas.
