THP trooper reportedly killed in I-40 crash in Madison County

UPDATE: Local law enforcement agencies have reported on social media that a state trooper was killed in a Monday crash on Interstate 40 in west Madison County.

The crash occurred near mile marker 74. The Tennessee Department of Transportation was rerouting traffic Monday evening at Exit 66 eastbound onto Highway 70.

The crash scene is estimated to be cleared by 10 p.m., according to the TDOT Smartway Map.

The THP confirms they are working the crash.

All eastbound lanes of the interstate at mile marker 74 were closed earlier Monday afternoon as first responders worked to clear the scene.
