WEST JACKSON — According to County Commissioner Luther T. Mercer, the County Commission has approved the sexual harassment settlements Tuesday morning for Deputy Sharon Sangster and Lt. Lisa Balderrama. Sangster will receive $210,000 and Lisa Baldarrama will receive $130,000. The county will only have to come out of pocket for $1,000, as the insurance will cover the rest of the settlements. Steve Maroney, Madison County Attorney, says that he thinks this is a positive settlement for the county. “It is an excellent settlement from the county’s perspective when one considers the exposure the county had,” Maroney said via email. Maroney also said that Sangster will remain on paid administrative leave until Woolfolk leaves office, either by ouster or at the end of his term. Sheriff Woolfork told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that he could not comment on the case on advice of council. The vote passed 21-2.
