Man Charged with Sex Crimes on a 15-Year-Old Boy

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Jackson police have charged a man with sex crimes on a minor. Rakevius Cole, 24, of Jackson, was arrested this morning and is in custody at the Madison County Jail. He is charged with two counts of statutory rape and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor on a 15-year-old boy. On Monday, a Jackson mother called police after learning that her 15-year-old son had been sexually involved with an unidentified man. Investigators learned that Cole and the boy had met on the Internet about a year ago. Cole had also sent the boy sexually explicit photos of himself over the Internet. This case was investigated by the Jackson Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Cole will be formally arraigned via video link at 8 a.m. Thursday in Jackson City Court. The ICAC Task Force is part of the Jackson Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau.
