Hot and Humid on Thursday

Weather Update – 10:45 p.m. – Wednesday, July 10th

Light showers are all that’s left tonight after heavy showers and strong thunderstorms did a lot of damage earlier today – especially in Jackson. Flash flooding caused sinkholes to open up and flooded roads made driving difficult or impossible for some. We’ll continue to see these showers move through West Tennessee for the rest of the evening. Fog is likely tonight which may limit visibility to less than a mile Thursday morning with lows tomorrow morning in the mid 70s. Showers and thunderstorms could linger through the midnight hour.

For tomorrow, we will be watching a lower chance for rain with scattered showers and thunderstorms likeliest south of I-40. Due to a lower chance for rain, temperatures will warm back up into the lower 90s allowing for the heat index to reach the triple digits again. However, a potential tropical cyclone in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to strengthen and could become a tropical storm or hurricane before it makes landfall later this week.

This storm could end up bringing a lot of rainfall to parts of West Tennessee depending on what direction it takes, so stay tuned to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News on-air and online for the latest forecast path and impacts for that storm and keep up with Storm Team Weather online for more updates.
