Local health department is now certified child passenger safety fitting station

JACKSON, Tenn. — Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children in America.

Nearly half of car seats are misused, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Jackson-Madison County Regional Health Department is now a certified child passenger safety fitting station.

The health department has four child passenger safety technicians on staff who can help citizens properly install car seats.

Technicians also check the seat to make sure it has not expired and has not been recalled.

This is a free service.

If you need a car seat checked or installed, call the health department at 731-423-3020.
