McKenzie police search for wanted juvenile who cut off ankle monitor

McKENZIE, Tenn. — McKenzie police are searching for a 17-year-old who failed to appear for court and appears to have cut off his ankle monitor on Thursday.

In a news release Friday, police say the juvenile cut off the monitor and left his home Thursday. He was scheduled to appear on multiple, serious charges in Carroll County Juvenile Court, but failed to appear for the hearing, according to the release.

Investigators from surrounding departments have been attempting to locate the teen, who is not being identified due to his age, on the failure to appear warrant.

Police say the juvenile has been known to carry a weapon, but it is unknown if he is currently carrying a weapon.

Police say he has also threatened his probation officer in the past.

He is described as a black male, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, with short hair and multiple tattoos. The release says one of those tattoos has “20” on one side of his chest and “02” on the other.

McKenzie police say they believe the teen could be in McKenzie, Huntingdon, Milan or Jackson, and anyone who sees the juvenile or knows his location is asked to call local law enforcement.

Residents are reminded to lock their homes and vehicles as a precaution and to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity.
