East Jackson Fire Stalls Traffic, Partially Destroys Vacant Home

EAST JACKSON — Smoke filled the sky Tuesday as an afternoon fire damages an East Jackson home and temporarily blocks traffic. Traffic was stalled along East Forest Street just before 1 p.m. as Jackson fire crews worked to put out a fire. Firemen on the scene say they got the call around 12:40 and when they arrived they saw flames. It took them about an hour to put the fire out. Firefighters say about 50 percent of the house is destroyed and the cause is still under investigation
