JACKSON, Tenn.- The city of Jackson announced the dedication of the grave sites of some local people who are apart of the city’s history, Tuesday afternoon. Rachel Lane, mother of the late bishop Isaac Lane, her sister Minerva and five unknown infants at the historic riverside cemetery all had their gravesites dedicated. Bishop Isaac Lane was instrumental in founding the C.M.E. Church and what is today Lane College. “The Lane College family is exceedingly happy, and this honor that they are bestowing on the Lane family and the families that are associated with it, with respect to their bloodline,” Glenn Vaulx, Lane College interim president, said. “It’s just a great day.” Mayor Jerry Gist said in a statement: “We will be more united in our shared future by recognizing and honoring those who have helped shape our past.”
