HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies said they have arrested a suspected drug dealer who took extreme measures to try and get rid of dozens of bags of marijuana, including tossing them onto a playground, Tuesday. Deputies said while executing a search warrant at the apartment of Jonathan Taylor, he took off running and tried to jump from a second story balcony. “When he was taken down, he threw 16 baggies of marijuana pre-packaged for sale over the balcony out into the playground area,” Deputy David Andrews said with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. K-9 officers searched both Taylor’s apartment and the playground. Deputies said they were able to recover the baggies along with felony amounts of marijuana found inside of Taylor’s clothes dryer, bathroom and car. “For an apartment complex where there’s children and you know, people living there trying to live in peace, taking out a drug dealer like that is a plus for us,” Deputy Andrews said. Neighbors said they are absolutely shocked by what happened, but relieved that deputies acted quickly to clean up the mess. Residents said the drugs, chase and arrest near the playground could have put parents and children at risk. “We don’t want these drugs falling into the hands of our kids and grandchildren,” resident Patty Bell said. “It gets crazy in Paris, I mean drugs are probably one of the number one problems police have in this town and you have a bunch of really good citizens but then you have that small percentage that cause danger for everybody else,” neighbor Aaron Leblanc said. Deputies told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News their investigation started after an anonymous tip. Residents said they are keeping their eyes open so they can keep their community safe. “Because it might save somebody’s life, keep somebody out of danger we all need to look out for each other,” Bell said. Deputies say they seized Taylor’s vehicle and more than $600 in cash. Taylor faces charges for having drugs and drug paraphernalia, he is now free on $5,000 bond. Records show he already had another drug charge pending against him.
