Fatal Wreck in North Jackson

NORTH JACKSON — A two-vehicle car crash in north Jackson claimed the life one driver, Thursday afternoon. The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on N. Highland at the intersection of Harris Drive. Jane C. Norvell, 65, of Jackson, was operating a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier. Norvell was attempting to turn left to south on Highland when she was struck in the driver‘s side by a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix. The Grand Prix was traveling north in the inside lane. Norvell died a short time later at Jackson- Madison County General Hospital from her injuries. The other driver is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. According to witnesses, Norvell pulled across the lane of travel leading to the accident. Mrs. Norvell was wearing a seat belt, and the other driver was not. The investigation is continuing.
