Local organization hosts gala for good cause on New Year’s Eve
JACKSON, Tenn. — Some West Tennesseans ended the year with good deeds to accomplish all of their 2019 goals.
Habitat for Humanity CEO Andrea Hudgins says the group wanted to raise $35,000 on New Year’s Eve.
“All the money that’s coming in Tuesday goes towards our new constructions, as well as our senior repairs. Those are critical repairs for people over 60 that live in their home,” Hudgins said.
Hudgins said in order to raise the money, those attending this annual New Year’s Eve event, the Dream Builder’s Gala, were asked to donate with a live auction.
“Last year we raised $25,000, but we have a lot of repairs and some new construction happening,” Hudgins said.
But guests also had a great time.
“We’re just celebrating the end of the decade, as well as all the things that went on this year with Habitat,” Hudgins said.
The organization managed to reach their goal of over $30,000.
