Local organization celebrates New Year tradition
MEDINA, Tenn. — A local organization celebrated a tradition at the start of the new year.
The SteelHorse Prophets Jackson Chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association held their annual polar bear ride.
“There’s a tradition of what you do the first day of the year is what you continue to do,” said treasurer Mary Flynn.
Flynn says it solidifies their commitment to minister to the biker community.
“That’s what we are all about,” Flynn said. “We are not just a ride group, and so I don’t know how long we’ve been doing this for, but we go on a ride.”
As part of the tradition, the group gathered for a delicious New Year’s Day meal. The group rode to Rhodes Family Diner in Medina for their annual New Year’s Day lunch.
“Share a meal, the traditional black-eyed peas and all that good kind of stuff, for our new year’s meal,” Flynn said.
Flynn says it’s also a way to come together to fellowship and start the new year right. She says the group meets every third Sunday of the month at 2 p.m., and anyone from the public is welcome.
