Jackson Man In Serious Condition After Early Morning Cutting

EAST JACKSON, Tenn. – One person was transported to the hospital Friday morning after a cutting in Jackson. The cutting happened in the 300 block of Simms Street. Jackson Police responded to a home on Wilkinson Street shortly before 3 a.m. Friday morning. According to a news release, a 25-year-old man was outside with severe cuts to his arm and abdomen. He was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in serious condition. Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe the victim was in his house on the 300 block of Simms Street when two men force entry into the home and attacked the victim with a knife. The victim was able to get away and walk a short distance to the home on Wilkinson Street for help. Police say one of the attackers was tentatively identified as Eddie Pittman, an acquaintance of the victim. Police are currently seeking Pittman for questioning. Pittman currently has an active arrest warrant for theft, stemming from a shoplifting from Sears in January. Pittman is described as a 5’11 56-year-old black man, weighting about 160 pounds. His last known address was on Carruthers Drive in Jackson. A second suspect was only described as a black male. The motive is still under investigation.
