Paroleee Arrested, Wanted in Friday Knife Attack

JACKSON, Tenn-Jackson police are investigating an early morning attack that sent a man to the hospital and now have a person of interest in custody they were seeking in connection to the attack. A trail of blood lines the street and is even visible on the door of the house where police said a man was severely cut, Friday morning. “He was in his home when two men burst in and attacked him with a knife,” Captain Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Department said. “I was coming home and saw police cars lined up on the right side of the street,” Jerry Thomas, a neighbor, recalled. Police said just before 3 a.m. Friday, two men forced their way into the victim’s house on Simms Street and severely cut him in his arm and abdomen. “He was cut so badly one of the officers had to place a tourniquet on him,” Captain Miller said. Police identified Eddie Pittman, an acquaintance of the victim as one of the attackers wanted for questioning. Late Friday afternoon Pittmann was located in the 200 block of Airways Boulevard and arrested by the U.S Marshals Task Force. He is being held at the Madison County Jail as police anticipate filing charges. Police said Pittman is also wanted for a shoplifting incident that happened in January and also for a parole violation charge. “We believe Pittman was the main person who caused the injury and the other person was just with him,” Captain Miller said. Police said the victim was able to get away and walk to a nearby street where he was able to call for help. Police are still investigating the nature of Pittman’s relationship with the victim and a possible motive for the attack. Investigators are still attempting to identify the second suspect involved. He was only described as a black male. If you have any information to help investigators, call Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400 or Crimestoppers at (731) 424-TIPS (8477).
