Alleged “Urinal Shoving” Case Dismissed

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A judge dismissed the charge against an area businessman accused of assaulting the Madison County attorney, Monday afternoon. Todd Krasner faced an assault charge in connection with an alleged run-in with attorney Steve Maroney. Krasner denies pushing Maroney after a January meeting of some county commissioners. The judge heard both men’s testimony, and ruled there isn’t enough evidence to move the case forward. In a written statement, Steve Maroney said the following: “While I am disappointed by the outcome, I support the judicial process. It is the proper way to resolve disputes in a civil manner, as opposed to threats and physical assaults. A lack of witnesses may have led to this particular judicial outcome, but that doesn‘t change the facts of what happened.” Krasner did not speak with WBBJ, but his attorney, Daniel Taylor, commented on the matter after the hearing. “I guess in essence what the judge has found is one word against another,” Taylor said. “There’s no proof of any injury and the judge just felt probable cause is a very low.” Maroney testified he was standing at the urinal in the men’s room when Krasner pushed him from behind.
