Arrest Made in Tuesday Night Homicide

EAST JACKSON — Jackson police have a man in custody in connection with the Tuesday night shooting death of Aljernon Lloyd, Jr. Ytockie Fuller, 37, of Jackson, is charged with first-degree murder. On Wednesday afternoon, investigators signed an arrest warrant, police said they have been aggressively searching for him since Tuesday night. At 10 a.m. Thursday, Fuller surrendered to a Jackson Police Officer and was transported to the Madison County Jail. “We’ve been aggressively looking for him all through out the evening, last night up until this morning and I think that pressure is what made him finally turn himself in,” said Capt. Tyreece Miller, Jackson Police Dept. At 7:28 p.m. Tuesday, police were called about a car that had struck the porch at a house on the 200 block of East Forest Avenue. Officers discovered that Lloyd, 64, of Jackson was the driver and only occupant. He had suffered a gunshot wound. Lloyd was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators determined that Lloyd was sitting in his car at a woman friend’s house on the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue. Officers said Fuller, who is the woman’s ex-boyfriend, drove up and approached Lloyd with a gun. “Mr. Fuller had been at the other end of the street apparently waiting and as they were arriving at her house that’s when he drove to the opposite end got out and confronted Mr. Lloyd,” said Capt. Miller. Police said Fuller then confronted Lloyd and shot him as he was attempting to leave. Lloyd drove away and traveled approximately a half-mile before crashing on East Forest Avenue. Fuller’s ex-girlfriend told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News that Fuller appeared to be calm when he arrived, she said he told her to take her 4-year-old daughter inside just before the shooting. “I think it’s just a senseless crime, something that really shouldn’t of happened,” said neighbor Lynn Steele. “I hope they get justice.” Investigators said Fuller has a history of violence. In 1995, Fuller shot a man in Jackson during a robbery. He was convicted of especially aggravated robbery and sentenced to prison. Fuller completed his prison sentence and was released in 2012. Fuller also has charges for evading arrest, theft and aggravated burglary. “Two years later he’s shot somebody else again and this time killed someone,” said Capt. Miller. “I hope that this will help, I know it wont bring Mr. Lloyd back but I hope this helps and we will let the justice system take it from here.” The woman who Lloyd was dropping off did not want to be identified but said she and Lloyd were just close friends. She and Fuller reportedly broke up in February and haven’t had any trouble since. She said she’s been too afraid to stay at home with her daughter since the shooting. Fuller is scheduled to be formally arraigned via video link at 8 a.m. Friday in Jackson City Court.
