THP Unveils “Operation Smoke” Friday

JACKSON, Tenn.-The THP said it has a new way to keep state highways safe. They will be watching from above. Troopers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct “Operation Smoke”, Friday. They will be all over West Tennessee, on the ground and in the agency’s helicopter focusing on seat belts and distracted driving. Troopers said they will ticket every driver who is not paying attention to the road. “Whether you’re on a phone, whether you’re eating going down the road, applying make up or just not paying attention to what you’re doing operating, you probably will get a ticket,” said Lt. Brad Wilbanks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The enforcement initiative will take place Friday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
