Deputy Alleges Discrimination At Sheriff’s Department

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A former deputy has filed a complaint against the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department claiming that he was discriminated against him. Patrick Franklin, the former deputy, says that he was let go from his job after HCSD did not properly accommodate his need to have a “light duty” position. Franklin could not complete POST Commission training in 2013 and was restricted to only light duties with law enforcement. Franklin now alleges that this was a violation of the American with Disabilities Act.
