First Presbyterian Church holds special service

JACKSON, Tenn. — The First Presbyterian Church held a special Ash Wednesday worship service.

It was a night of prayer and hymns for the seventh Wednesday before Easter Sunday.

Pastors with the church say the ancient practice of placing ashes on worshippers’ heads is a sign of humility before God.
