JACKSON, Tenn.- It is the dream for many Americans — the ability to become a homeowner. Thursday night, the West Tennessee Home Builders Association held a dinner meeting for existing and prospective members in the Jackson area. The group heard about new initiatives to promote home ownership. Organizers said after a very cold winter they hope spring weather will help with housing starts locally. “Whenever you have below freezing temperatures you can’t pour concrete, you can’t grade lots. You can’t, you know, mud sheetrock, so the first quarter is going to start off a little bit slow but it’s all due to the weather,” Kim Grant Brown said, of the West TN Home Builders Association. Thursday night’s featured speaker was Ralph Perrey, executive director of the Tennessee Housing Development Association.
