Carroll County AG Day Teaches Farm Basics

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The Carroll County Farm Bureau hosted Carroll County AG Day on Friday at the Huntingdon National Guard Armory Building. The objective of AG Day was to help county 5th graders understand how food and fiber products are produced and to help encourage an appreciation for the role local agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products. Ten educational stops were set up insidem, and eight educational stops were set up outside the building to address these objectives. Topics included soil conservation, crop care, cotton, corn/wheat, soybean, technology, farm safety, dairy, what is a farmer, and farm trivia. Farm Equipment was also set up outside along with various farm animals for the students to see. The event kicked off with a breakfast at the armory with Rep. Andy Holt as the guest speaker.
