Stolen Car Chase Leads to Recovery of Stolen Gun

UNION CITY, Tenn. — An investigator’s stolen gun was recovered after a chase with a stolen vehicle, Wednesday. A Union City Police Department investigator noticed that his personal gun was missing from his garage a couple weeks ago. On Wednesday night, police were chasing a stolen vehicle in Union City. The car chase led police to Deante Tharpe’s apartment, which prompted a police search. During this search, police say they found the stolen gun. Tharpe, a convicted felon, denies breaking into the investigator’s garage. Tharpe has been charged with unlawful possession, possession of marijuana and alteration of items with permanent numbers.
