UT Martin Student Attacked with a Shovel

MARTIN, Tenn. — An alleged attack outside the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity house has police searching for the man accused of getting violent when a fraternity member saw him in the tree line Tuesday night. “He didn’t know what he was there for so he went to find out who it was and what they were doing. When he did, he encountered a man with a shovel,” says Captain Don Teal. Capt. Teal says the victim recognized the man as Christopher Morris, and when the find him, he will face a count of aggravated assault. Morris is accused of using a shovel to hit the fraternity member in the arm and head before running away, but leaving the shovel behind. Members of Pi Kappa Alpha wouldn’t talk about the incident but police say this isn’t the first time Morris had been there. “There had been an incident earlier we believe concerning the same assailant as far as some vandalism goes,” says Teal. UT Martin would not confirm if Morris is a student. Martin Police are handling the investigation because the fraternity house is off campus. Teal says there is an active warrant for aggravated assault.
