JACKSON, Tenn. — Eugene Pickett is the owner of Reggi’s Barbecue. He’s been in business for 28 years, and says this is one of the best times of year. “When the Generals start playing, usually we have an early dinner crowd before the game,” Pickett said. Sparky’s Pizza say they’re also ready for the season to start. “We’re expecting a huge turnout tonight with families and friends getting together to really celebrate the spirit of the game,” says Jennifer Jerrolds, manager at Sparky’s. Jerrolds says you couldn’t ask for better business. “We’ve got a prime location. We always see our business go from 20 percent to full max power of 100 percent this time of year,” said the Sparky’s manager. Both restaurants say they’re glad baseball season is back. They bring in extra staff to help with all the customers coming in. “It takes everybody that we have on staff to prepare for the crowd,” says Pickett. Customers like Don DeBerry and his wife say it’s just tradition. “It’s the barbecue I’ve had in so long I can’t remember when…,” DeBerry said. Both restaurants say it’s just an exciting time of year.
