Community Garden Would Help Feed the Needy

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Community Cafe in downtown Jackson is known for its unique and fresh meals. One of the reasons it will stay that way is because organizers are working to build a community garden to support the cafe. They plan to grow lots of greens, lettuces, and herbs such as eucalyptus and kale, all which will be used for dishes featured on the menu. “Everything that we raise will go to the café or to volunteers or people who come in and need a meal. If we have extra produce we want to help out other organizations around town as well,” Cari Phillips said, the project’s organizer. The garden organizers also want to help people learn more about growing their own gardens and how to cook what they grow.
